Monitor for me, you, us! – by LG
The device arrived in a thin box, and we could think that is empty. Of course that was not true, the display lay low in it. We wrote about LED technology a lot, because it edify picture quality, id est we can get better contrast by it. But backlit made better LCDs by other sights. Energy usage was getting lower, they use half (or less) than usual LCDs and devices thickness was getting smaller and lighter.
Of course weight is less, because manufacturers prefer external power supplies, and that is good. Good because user does not notice while watching the display, user can get thin monitor and weight of device is falling off. LG E2350V is 3 kilograms only, so it is clear why was we thinking box was empty. Thickness of the display is only 1,7 centimeters at the most coarse area. It sounds silly; it is like we got an unrecoverable demo model from IKEA’s den.
Let’s look its face!
The wide display has a 2,5 centimeters glossy black frame. It is not true for down area, it has a purple-red strain. We cannot find any controlling body for first look, not at front, not at sidelong, and we do not look the back, if they put there that would be silly idea. And after the searching we figured out there will be no usual button, but if we power on the device we can see six little led, which is passing to the color of down area. So it has a touch-sensitive surface, and we can decoy the menu with it.
Let’s rotate!
LG did not save video inputs. There is D-Sub, DVI and HDMI, so we can recommend the display for computer, and consoles too. We can find stereo output with jack format. It makes sense for HDMI audio, the device has not speaker so, we can sound it with any speaker what we have.
At boxing out we found a foot, but we did not put on it. There is the first nice idea, what we wait by LG.
Nowadays displays without foot are a fashion. These look like a giant digital picture frame, and we do not like it. We work on notebook, and we are looking for opportunities to lift, move from plane of desk to do not have to look down
That is the reason why we like usual displays, they have foot, they tall enough, and it is easier to work with. And designers come, they says take off the foot, it looks better. Are they right? Yes, it looks better.
There is the time for LG’ cleverness! The foot –exactly the shank- made for two options. If we pull down the bottom on the top than we can rotate back and it becomes to a giant picture frame. If we leave turn down we can put on the foot and every critic user –like us- can be satisfied and they get a usual monitor with foot. Two in one! Nice!
Here is the time, let’s turn on!
