Kingston HyperX LoVo: If I want – it’s fast, if I want – it’s economical

We had memory test long time ago, primarily we had something major or rush, what we had to bring into prominence. But memory is a very important part of our computer too and the know that. RAM has determining role in the speed of computers, its amount is the most matter, but its speed can determining too. We have to find balance when we buy memory. We buy quick memory vainly if it is only 1 GB, furthermore dual-channel mode is not active neither. 1 GB of RAM is very insufficient nowadays and it can not help if it is run at 2500 MHz.

We have to set a sequence up for buy memory:

  1. Definition of type of memory to be bought: It is defined by our memory controller and motherborard. Previous can be integrated into processor or blankpool. Each motherboards are hybrid, so they support two memory type, but it is not common.  We can learn simple what kind of moduls should we buy from box of motherboard or users guide. Nowadays it is DDR2 or DDR3, sometimes costumers are looking for DDR1 to repair or upgrade old comuputers.
  2. Decision of necessary memory quantity:
Worthy to think over, what we would like to use the computer for. If we are surfing on the internet, watching movies or playing low resource-demanding games, 2 GB RAM still enough. We would not suggest 1 GB, because it can limit speed of the whole system. We do not have to use 64-bit OS with 2 GB RAM, we can still use 32-bit version. If we want play with serious games 2 GB can be slight so we vote 3 or 4 GB pack, depends on two or three channel kits. In We should use 64-bit OS in the case. 4 GB is still good, but if we want play high level graphics with high resolution or decode videos than applications will not regret 6 or 8 GB RAM. But that is the maximum, buy more memory is really gratuitous. If it would be our decision we would buy 4 GB RAM in dual-channel kit.
  3. Decision of memory speed: We have to decide how important is memory speed, because quicker memories are more expensive. We do not have to spend money unnecessarily. We should not go to extremes if we use PC as home theatre or surf on the internet we do not need big speed. On the other hand we need speed for games and other high resource-demanding applications. We need to focus for frequency and latency. Of course in the previous case (frequency) the most high value is the best and in the latter (latency) the lowest but we will be forced to compromises certainly on one of the areas. So applications which feature like more? This changes every time. The determing DDR2 frequencies are 800/1060/1200 MHz and DDR3 memories run from 1333 MHz through 1600 MHz to the sky. Premium values are between 2 and 3 Ghz. We prefer 1066 MHz kit from DDR2, because this has the best price/value ratio. 800 Mhz can be slow, but 1200 Mhz models are too expensive. 1600 Mhz is good at DDR3 line.

  4. The significance of manufacturer/trademark: As everything, this time is still true that buy the cheapest model is not deserving. Ok, we can find treause between noname items if we search careful or luckily, but it lies in our power choose from renowned products. Each manutacturers stay at starting level and bear in mind the price, but most company want lap the full palette from simple to tuning versions. We can mention a lot of solid and certified trademark, but if we say Kingston everybody think of RAM. Why do we lift it? Because Kingston gave us current test subject, one Kingston HyperX LoVo kit.
